Blending a sugar run with a grain?

Post by 1131morg »

I recently refluxed a sugar wash and am not really satisfied with it. I am in the process of pot stilling a 3rd gen of UJSSM and am happy so far with it. My question is can I blend the sugar run into the boiler with my UJSSM wash and re-run it that way or just add it to my spirit run at the end ? If at the spirit run will it "nuetralize" some of the corn flavor that I'm hoping to get out of the UJSSM ? Thanks.

You can do it either way. I'd be more inclined to add it to your UJSM wash and pot still it out. But, you can also just use it to blend after the fact. Dilute it down to drinking proof, and blend with your UJSM.

Adding it to the wash was the direction I was leaning hoping it will pick up the same characteristics from the wash. I just needed confirmation so I didnt ruin the whole thing. Thanks a bunch.
