New Pot Still!!!! Some Questions?

Just finished my first build just a question the copper cap I put on the SS pot lid is not flush on the lid there what looks like to be a very small gap where very minimal light gets through. Is this a problem?

As to your question, yeah thats a problem. A gap means vapor is escaping. Not only does that mean less product, but it's also a huge fire hazard! If you've got a propane burner under your still, congrats on the shiny new bomb.

haha yeah i did some research and i found the out! i am hitting up the hardware store tomorrow to get a new cap and i need to think of a new way to attach the pipe to the lid. Any ideas?

You could take it to a welding shop and get it tiged. Or you could just buy a 7.5 gallon keg.

What is that 3 foot high? If you seal that lid to the pot with flour past it's going to be a bitch to keep sealed. If your going to use that pot make sure the lid is anchored solid, binder clips won't cut it.
