Here is Pikluk's method for attaching a column to an SS lid. http://homedistiller.org/forum/viewtopi ... 46&t=13598

I can't make any sense of what your second question is actually asking.

I think you are thinking of Alex Bokakob's "Two Cups" design. Here it is http://homedistiller.org/image/drawing_ ... ups_TC.jpg" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" rel="nofollow

Also, take a look at his "Slant Plate" design. It is cheaper to build as it uses far fewer fittings (which are expensive). There are plenty of build threads on this design scattered around the Forum.

Drill hole in cover the size needed and get copper male/female parts like those in the picture and wrap threads w/teflon tape. Easy Squeezy.

I know I'm kinda reviving a dead thread. But those two pipe fittings shown above my post...........everywhere I've looked both in local stores and online they together cost over $50 in 2" diameter..... Thats 50% of the my whole investment already.

You could use a less expensive coupling and just solder it to the bottom section then use flour paste to seal it when running it. Another way is make an "easy flange" on each section and an "everlasting gasket" and use a tri-clamp. Also you could just make it a one piece column and not have a connection to deal with. I would have done mine in one piece but I bought mine already cut in sections.

i cut a short 2" piece of copper pipe open, flattened it out, cut it in a circle, drilled a 2" hole in center, soldered pipe in hole, drilled 5 holes around it,fastened it to lid with 5 ss 1/4" bolts and a samohan gasket, even made the lid a bit stronger.
