Very nice!!! Honored to be the first to congratulate you... did you build it yer self? That should make some dandy fine sippin for ye... I wonder though about the size of yer outlet, looks small, 1/2" is standard I think. Thank-you for sharing, looks very nice!!!

Wow, that's a piece of art! I'd ditch the plastic measuring cup as a collection container, but other than that, looks great. What are you making with it? rum, whiskey, vodka?

thanks guys, i made the lid from an old dimplex washing cone (the one that has a soap container ball inside) i've soldered the soap container ball to where the top near the condenser draw off (28mm) is, it acts a wee bit to give some reflux (i think?), but also i hope to fill with botanicals and flavour some shine on it's second run.

ya im going to get some glass beakerware, im a bit ashamed about the plastic!! im just setting up so was just using what is around...

The outlet ?? do you mean the condenser? It's 1/4" soft copper.. seems to work a treat, i usually dont need the water turned on because i heard that its supposed to come out not too cold.

I just ran some strawberry wine through it from a batch last summer that went a little musky.. OMG IT IS THE BEST schnapps i've ever had!! I worked on my cuts in 100ml cups, seems a good way of keeping the heads right.. this picture attached is reading 82.5% first run, it was up at 85

A bit confused, about it being a pot still and only getting a first run, but i suppose if i upped the temperature it would come off quicker and more diluted.. im collecting from what my dial says 85C and right up to 94C it still comes out clean.. seems about 95 it runs into tails and i collect for a bit... until about 96C and the ABV goes down considerably (to less than 20%)

Nice Job man, but that looks like a plastic testing cylinder. Theres a pic of one of those that melted on here somewhere. No heat was applied to melt it either.....

That little ball looks cool and it may be contributing to the ABV you are seeing from a pot. I cant get that high with my pot on a first run.

My mate has just gone off about how beer is so expensive, so after chatin with him, I convinced him to help with splittin the costs on a 25kg sack o malted barley.. malted wheat and smoked malt!!
We live up in the north o' scotland, right in the heart o' distillery cuntry.. so to be fair wer gonna try our own malt this next weekend, boil up a mash and get fermentin a wash with high alcohol for whiskey and to make some beer aswell!!! Im so excited!!!!!! i git some good barrel staves from the whiskey industry here.. and we gonna try toastin them up to the right flavonoid levels.. any temperature recomendation??? for OAK.. peace, Jay
