New to forum

Post by gsuguy »

Hey everyboy,

Im brand new to the forum and for that matter brand new to distilling.
To be honest this is the first forum ive ever signed up for so please be gentle all around lol.

Im trying out distilling to just try and have a hobby. I spend so much of my life working that I dont have much time for crazy adventures.

I have recently bought a Mr. Distiller, I know from reading other that you either love it or hate it. I just wanted something very small to start and just see if I happen to enjoy this craft that so many other people love. Im looking forward to using it for the first time next week. I know many people dont like it, but please dont bust my balls from the start. It is my first purchase just to get the hang of things and find out the basics. If i come to find out that I do in fact enjoy this hobby, then I will look into a much larger still. But for now, im a nooby just getting started and trying to learn somewhere.

I apologize in advance for any stupid question or common sense questions. I hope I can look to this forum for great information from some great people.

Thanks guys, Happy to be here.

I'm sorry, but you should probably check out the Knitting Paradise forum if you want a hobby that's not going to turn into a crazy adventure.

No, you can actually manage to juggle home distilling and work. I know I do. And a lot of the other guys here on the forum do, too.

If you do it right, you can launch many types of fermentations in a few hours one afternoon, spend maybe 10 minutes a day for a week or two doing a look-see, and distill on a day off.

It will help a lot if you can squeeze in some time to read as much as possible along the way. Some guys are lucky, in that they sit in a cubicle all day surfing the internet, anyway.

If you're like me, and your job doesn't give you a lot of time sitting at the computer, you can do a little reading in whatever free time you can squeeze-in here and there. The more you read, the better.

Hopefully you'll find some kind of way to pull it off, because everybody should have some kind of crazy adventure in there lives.

Welcome!
You will find this a very friendly and helpful place. I just joined here a little over a week or so ago, having never distilled anything in my life. Now, my first wash is bubbling and I will be making my first stripping run this coming weekend. That has only been possible due to the people and information on this site. You will be told a million times to keep reading. That is the very best advise you can take.

Keep us posted on your projects!
Tim
