Birdwatchers starting SG help!

Post by total »

Hey guys...
I just mixed up my first Birdwatchers, and my SG read 1.12...:wtf:
I used this CALCULATOR to scale it down to a 4 gallon mash..
I used 4gal city tap water, 7.51lbs sugar, 1/2 lemon, a pinch of epsom, and 149g all natural tomato paste...

What should i do?

dilute it..put it in to a bigger container, or split it in two, and add water...if is 4 gallons, add 1-11/2 gallons of water..check the SG after adding one gallon and if it is still too high add the 1/2 gallon

Apparently i just needed to shake it better before i pulled the sample off...
And i pulled from the bottom w/o shaking...

It was a 1.08 once i added the extra few for the temp difference...

I added 2 packs of EC-1118 to the sample i had pulled off...
It was at a nice 95deg F...

Then i poured it back into the jug, which didnt cool down as fast as the sample and was at 120deg F...
I really need to pay more attention to what im doing....
