ABV from a Boka
I have done 2 spirit runs and on my 3rd and thought I was getting great ABV when the alcoholmeter in the parrot showed 95% to 96% and I thought that was awesome. Then I realized the distillate was hotter than 60*F and needed to be corrected. The true ABV turned out to be 93% to 94%. The Boka is 2" diameter and the column is 50" high all stuffed with SS scrubbers. I am running 35% ABV low wines from some stripping runs. I have read the post by Husker on how to run the reflux and have followed it closely. I ran full reflux for 40 minutes then slowly took off fores and the heads then increased flow when I got into the hearts. Is this ABV about right for my setup or should I be getting higher results. The reason I am asking is that some of the things pointed out in Huskers instructions have not happened in my runs. Most notably that the head temp does not drop when I take off the fores. I just want to make sure I am not doing something wrong.
