making a guava must
hi i have some guava's that i wanna use to make a must out of. i usually use a type of fruit and add sugar and yeast and water to make my must, im wondering if guava has enough sugar in it that i could make my must with out any aditional sugar? i usually make 5 gal batches. would the batch with out extra sugar yeald a high enough alcohol % i like to aim for 50% when i blend togeather.

Not sure about the sugar levels, but the little red guavas make a killer semi-dry red wine!
Where has all the rum gone? . . .

Re: making a guava must
No idea, but in season there are a ton of guava in the wild to harverst.
But looking at a different thread about ABV for the wash/must....thought was lower than 8% would produce better but less product. If I understood what I read.

Reviving an eight year old post
I just bit into my first yellow guava ever. The Mexican feller that I work with didn’t even know how to say it in English and I have never had a guava so I didn’t know what the hell it was either. My second Google search after I figured out that it was a guava was how to make brandy out of it because I love the unique flavors. Here I found my loyal home distillers had it figured out. I love this forum, God I love this forum!
