Does anyone use aquarium heaters or airstones???

Hi guys, I am trying to produce the cleanest tasteless neutral from sugar washes, have read somewhere that aquarium heaters can be used to maintain wash temperature (this is in the primary fermenting stage) and that airstones can be used to aerate wash when fermenting. has anyone used either of these items. If so does it make any difference to strenght - clarity or taste????
