lid clamp

Post by shinyhead »

I have found the solution to the age old question of how do I clamp my bowl to my pot. Here is a link to a company that will make the ring blot clamp to the size you need. I got a ring bolt clamp for a 26 qt pot custom made for $15.

when it arrives and I put it on the pot, I will take some pictures and let you folks know the results of how it seals/clamps the lid to the pot.

How did you get a custom one? Did you give them a diameter or a circumference? Did you have to specify every dimension or just a few?

I just gave them the diameter and they made it. I gave them a reference photo of my pot so they could see how the lid sat on the pot and the amount that was rolled on the pot and they made it from there. I didn't tell them I wanted overnight shipping, but the shipped it overnight. I paid for the overnight shipping of course.

Looks great, do you still need a gasket? PTFE tape around the rim and clamp it Nice

Keep us posted on how it works for you. I'm still building, but might be interested in something like this down the road. Do you still need some kind of gasket between the lid and pot?

Edit: Looks like someone posted the same question at the same time I posted mine. Great minds think alike.

It clamps very tight, but I still put ptfe tape around the rim to be sure. It works awesome. Did a water test run to see whether it leaked or not. Not a leak any where.
