First of all, I am not certain where to put this so feel free to relocate if it is in the wrong area.
I recently made a Brunello wine that has a very odd after taste to it that I am trying to salvage by turning it into grappa. The kit was quite expensive and as a wine it is quite delicious but after a few seconds it has a reall off after taste. It tastes like soap and/or perfumey. I think somehow some sented soap or laundry detergent got in there either by not rinsing propery or ??? no idea. There is no doubt though the taste is there and is not going away . Been aging for about 4 months now. I was hoping the taste would go away ... but its not. Real shame because the first few seconds are delicious till the soapy perfumy taste kicks in.
Anyhow, if it is soap or detergent would running it through a still leave that flavor behind or willthe grappa taste soapy/perfumy??
Funny taste in my wine that I trying to Distill
