Portable bar
As many of you know I am in the process of remodeling my downstairs rec room. While doing the demolition I had attached to the ceiling under the ceiling tiles a lot of 1x4 cedar boards. With my son getting married this summer I thought I could reclaim them by building a portable bar for the reception and then later use it at our house for serving when we have our annual family picnic. I am still sanding the top and haven't yet got the finish on it but had to do a mock up assembly to check it out. On the ground you can see some of the left over 1x4 boards that I ripped down to size. Now just to find more space in my outbuilding to store one more thing!

Looks good to me...try a nice oil finish on the cedar...brings out the grain real nice and the more coats you put on the deeper it looks...almost 3D.... But what's in the barrels? Full or empty or waiting for something?

Re: Portable bar
I've got a winery here that save them for me at $40.00 each. I plan on making furniture out of most of them for around the lake and the left overs well they'll go on the BBQ to be toasted/charred.beelah wrote:Looks good to me...try a nice oil finish on the cedar...brings out the grain real nice and the more coats you put on the deeper it looks...almost 3D.... boiled lindseed oil on cedar is beautiful. Wish I had pics of the cedar guitar body I did with BLO, amazing.
Looks great, you could put an opening in the barrels on the bar tender side for likker storage.
