EverBright Coatings

Post by The KYChemist »

In my search, to find ways to keep my future still bright and coppery, I found this. I haven't tried it, but everything I've seen and read makes it seem legit. I was most worried about copper areas that would come in contact with flame, as we will be using a propane burner. Their web-site says that their product is non-toxic, and safe for areas that come into contact with food, and can also be used on the exterior of copper pots. As for distillate, still haven't found anything in regards to this. It would, of course, be used on the outside of the still on areas that don't come into contact with distillate. Just curious if anyone has had experience with this product, in some of its other various uses.

I dunno...

I'm a much bigger fan of patina than polishing...

I used it on my pot still and it seems to work great.

I use Wrights Copper Cream, seems to work pretty well. Simply rub it on then wash it off and dry- done. I also agree with JYD, the copper patina looks sweet as well.

Don't get me wrong... Copper patina looks good. Shiny copper looks good. I just happen to prefer shiny. With all the work we'll have put into our still, I would just prefer it to stay looking like this...

I wouldn't trust this product as especially safe for our use but it "should" be alright as long as extensive contact with high proof spirits is avoided... As I have stated more than once, I'd prefer the patina over shiny copper because it's more nostalgic and draws far less attention...

I agree with you completely... As was stated in my OP, it would only be used on exterior surfaces, that don't come in contact with distillate.

I solidly recommend this ceramic clear coating. It is so tough you cant chip it,. It is alcohol resistant, acetone resistant and heat tolerant to 800 degrees. I literally soldered right next to it without damaging it. Really cool stuff. It is a little expensive upfront but very affordable to use with great coverage at one mill thick. You need a compressor and spray gun.

Ill definitely keep that at the top of the list. Twice as much $, as what we were originally considering, but twice as tough! Thanks for the suggestion.
