My Tennessee stud was tall and lean

and his eyes were green . Had a coat the color of the sun . Papered 5 year old Cajun Creek bred stallion (grandson of Man O War) that had only been out of the barn to cover mares his whole life . Didn't even know what running water was when I bought him . My trials breaking him to saddle would make a book on it's own . 'Nuff said that couple years later he was a dependable mount that I rode around the mountains in my spare time as a travellin stud . Stud fees helped pay for his grain bill . We were buddies enough that he had acquired some of my bad habits . Drinking beer from cans and being fond of willing females were two of them . We kinda built a reputation in the area .
Rode into a remote farmstead one day and the only soul visible on the place was a young gal weedin in the garden . Rode over and inquired about where the men were . They were off to the other end of the county gettin a corn crop in on some other ground they owned .
Then she had a question for me ,
"Mr Stud Horse Man , who is gettin the most this week , you or the horse ?"
"Right now I'm 3 behind ."
"Well , you just found a good place to break even if you want to tie him to the fence and come in for a spell ."
That yaller horse had a fair amount of catchin up to do when we left .
