time for a proper still can i have some help with the idear

Post by chrisc69 »

ok im looking at building a new still at the moment im using a worm in a bucket (works fine) on a 20L pot and my other still is a 50l keg still on a 1m copper pipe and the smugglers stainless steel pot condenser im a whisky drinker never have thought much of vodka if i need a small amount of vodka ill make it and run it through 6 or so times till i get a fully striped run but that runs to slow

now im looking at electrifying as in price its cheaper to use electricity than to run gas $24 for a full 9kg bottle and against $0.24 peak time $0.18 off peak time per kwh so a 5500kw element will cost a bit in heat but then backed off for the run was wondering if anyone can help me with will this set up be good for a pot still though

im looking at shortening my height to about 300mm then have my worm in a bucket but it would be more like a drum or a decent thickens piece of PVC and a pump about. 10m of 1/2 inch coil
to me i know it will work just looking at possible performance improvements
would conciser a liberg but im wanting to keep this simple and effective

also if i wood fire the still instead if electricity is not able to be done would i need a slobber box?

5500kw element

Wow! Some still at five and a half megawatts! You will need more than a domestic supply for that!! :lolno:

Should work if you can control the heat. You would need a fair amount of cooling as 5kW (less still losses) is a fair amount of heat to dissipate.
