Right now.... Drinking the years of defeat.

I'm with you Jimbo, sometimes in wonder why I share with idiots that couldn't tell if they were drinking old grand dad or knob creek. I like feed back, but I'm not sure if their feed backs worth it.

years = tears? LOL That was a great game! What happened to Bergeron tho? I wanna beat you guys fair and square with everyone healthy.

On the sharing thing. Sometimes you hit a guy who actually knows the difference between Four Roses and Pappy Van Winkle bourbons, or better yet knows whats happening in the craft distillery world and has tried a few like Breuckelin, Koval, Balcones etc. In this case it was the skeptic I mentioned who knew his shit and can talk whiskey for hours. I watched him sit quietly sniffing tasting and making approving faces. He told me 3 times "This is really good" about the bourbon. I got the impression he was surprised and didnt want to believe it. These are the kind of guys we can bring into the fold here. Didnt tell him I make that bourbon for $1.75 a bottle. If I did it might have clinched it, and had him shopping for copper HA!

Yeah.... Tears... Damn iPhone.

I hear ya about the idiots. I have hard core whiskey drinkers that have good things to say about my likker, they even come asking for it. Then I have the guys that think they know whiskey because they buy a $150 bottle but that's all just a look at me stunt. The ones that really kill me say they don't like it cause it doesn't have that "burn". I'm like, yeah dick head that's cause you like cheap whiskey out of a plastic bottle. Funny aren't you the guy that brought the case of black label too?

Man what a series that was, too close for comfort that's for sure. That's one of the things i love bout hockey though, the game can seem over, then everything can change in 17 seconds :) I'm currently drinking in the sweet sweet taste of victory.

I hate the last three minutes of a game when you only have a 1 goal lead. So easy to just get caught on your heals for a second.

Damn good series. If I had to pick one team for Boston to lose to, it'd be the hawks. Classy Team, Original 6... Didn't turn ugly like the Vancouver series in 2011. I really like that no matter what kind of press Marchand or Shaw got for being the instigator, or who was Thorton going to fight... who can play who's style hockey... Those guys all went out and played a good game. No nasty fights, not super dirty play, all the games we close. Kinda funny how both teams picked the same game to really light up the goal.

Enjoy the Victory out there in Chicago

Currently vacationing the mtns of Tennessee, in a town where there is no likker and no wine unless you go to a winery ...

That said, I have long heard of Goose Island beer , both before and after the buy out - but no one distributes it in my part of NC.

Been enjoying the Honker's Ale for a few days now - and the Summertime and India Pale are legit too .....

Guys, I just finished off another batch of genever. Normally, it would take a 3 day rest to reach like 70% of its total taste potential. And another 4 to 5 weeks for it to taste as good as it gets. I just took a sip of my newly made drink a few days ago. Slightly different approach, slightly altered herbs bill. Rye bread Eau de Vie as a base likker. And a few days ago ... it just didn't taste right.

So I put it in the fridge for a few hours and it louched. That told me I got over the amount of herbs I wanted. Just enough to stay soluble at room temp. So much, it will louch the product when cooled. I added some 96% rye bread Eau de Vie to take the ABV from 43% to 45% and the louch lifted. Sipping as I write. Best old styler to date. And it didn't even age out long enough. And neither did it have any time on wood.

I am a happy man!

But why did I make 5 liters only?

Regards & good night,
Odin.

That's why it turned out so good Odin, Murphy's Law, you only made 5 liters so it turned out very tasty. If you hade made a bunch more it probably wouldn't have turned out as good

I love Odin's passion for spirits. I read all his stuff and just get this odd excitement. For someone that doesn't speak English as his first language, he really finds a way to get his passion for the craft across. He makes me want to make the trip across the pond and drink up that eastern history.

I agree Black Eye, his passion certainly shows, in any language. And his posts are full of. distilling wisdom. I definitely appreciate his contribution. Speaking of hey Odin, how does the likker from your rye bread sugarhead compare to a regular rye AG or rye sugarhead? That recipe caught my attention recently. And to keep on topic, I'm at work so am drinking coffee

Yes topic... I'm drinking some white UJSSM. Just did an age sample on (4) 750ml jars to see how it's coming.... Wonderful. The wifey did the blind smell test and picked it over Elijah Craig 12 year. But mines sweeter, not having the other bourbon grains in it. She's making fun of my smile.

Edit: it's aging on my supply of Hungarian heavy toast oak cubes.

Drinking some Winter Red Wheat single malt. 3 fingers with 1 ice cube really brings out the fruit. Takes some restraint not to drink too much of this crap, goddamn its good.

Edit: sittin outside drinking this at dusk and bats are flying over my head. I think they're eating the skeeters coming to get me. Freaky.

Faux wheat whiskey (based on Rads all bran, Thanks again Rad!) and coke, fresh off the still from yesterday.

I like it a little older, just can't seem to keep enough around!

Very happy camper right now. I like how this last run went.

I have learned more about running my still in the last half of a year than the first year. (I have only been doing this for a year and a half)

In my first year, I learned how to get the highest ABV my still could make. A good thing to know, but now I'm starting to learn how to get the better flavors out of it, and loving every drop of it.

Without this forum I would be nowhere near where I am now.

Thanks HD !

Larceny Kentucky straight bourbon whiskey with ginger ale and a lime wedge. The whiskey is a newer release from Heaven Hill and damn good imho especially with a rebate for less than $10

Laying in bed in a hotel in Montana sipping 2 fingers of red wheat single malt with 2 cubes. Tasting especially good after an all day hike up to the summit of the tallest peak in the Bridger mountain range with my son who we're here to visit. Great day.

Midwest, you got that bottle of Larceny for less than 10 bucks, is that what you said? Wow! thats great. Im reading a book on this trip called Bourbon Whiskey, Sour Mash and Sweet Adventures by Bernie Lubbers. Interesting book, but its making me thirsty to try about 10 different bourbons, so far, and thats a hankerin thats dangerous to wallet!
