My first Parrot

Hey everybody, just got done making my parrot and thought id share some pictures. I thought soldering to the sides of the overflow and the bottom would be a lot harder than it really was flux is amazing I must say. Soldering has become an addiction I cant get enough of. All in all I think she came out quite nice just need to make a base now. Any thoughts, suggestions, likes, dislikes you all have would be appreciated. Thank you all for vast knowledge here that continues to grow day after day. Cheers

Get yer self another reducer and cut it down to fit on the bottom of the parrot then fill with melted tire or fishin weights....wont go nowhere.

How much product does a still need to produce to justify/need a parrot?

Nice looking bird. Using a parrot made me more consistent. A block of wood with the right size hole is another option.

I've gotta get mine done one of these days.

head back down to the lumber yard for a 4x4 or 5x5 piece of nice wood. Ask for scraps then bore a hole to fit the base on one side, then flip it over, drill 4 holes in the corners, NOT all the way through then fill those holes with lead (fishing weights held with pliers and a torch), drip into the holes. Then sand and stain it, put some felt on the bottom and waaala!

Thanks everyone for all the great ideas haven't made the base yet waiting tell I goto work tomorrow and see what I can find there I work in a metal/wood shop so im sure ill find a nice chunk of wood or something. Figured id give so more info.

How much product does a still need to produce to justify/need a parrot?

I tested this just using water and it took 110ml to fill with no hydrometer and with the hydro it took 80ml again using only water.

Also ive put together a parts list if anyone is interested in building something similar Im in Minnesota so this will be in inches sorry overseas people I don't know squat about mm

1 - 10.5" long 3/4" wide pipe
2 - 3/4" caps
1 - 1.5" reducer to 3/4"
1 - 13" long 3/8" od 1/4 id
1 - 4.75" long 3/8 od 1/4 id

That's all that is used here so far (besides solder and flux both lead free) a simple 3/8 hole in the bottom of the 10.5" 3/4" pipe with the end cap already soldered than another 3/8" hole on the lowest part of the reducer. than one more 3/8 hole in the bottom of the second 3/4" cap. solder everything together and BAAAM one pretty Polly. Hope this helps someone out there. Fire away with any questions anyone has. And thanks again to everyone for the ideas a complements. what a great community.

Your parrot looks very nice. That's the next thing on my list. Just built my first still, and now I want to make a Parrot... but I haven't even started my first mash yet. I guess I really need to get on the ball with getting something out of all of this work.
