Only non-Muslims are allowed to buy and consume alcohol in Pakistan, but many people illegally brew alcohol at home.

Locally brewed alcohol has been traditionally available in two forms - kuppi and tharra- in Pakistan.
Buyers are said to often mix the two, leading to a more potentially lethal drink.
Just sounds like more uninformed or at the very least incomplete reporting.

Wow, two different parties on two different days....somebody is making some BAD stuff over there....I'm wondering how that much bad stuff could have come from a still, It sounds like radiator fluid or someone mixing industrial alcohols to take advantage of the situation....
Were I there, I'd not drink anything I didn't make myself, including coffee.

I saw that too, the reporting was as ignorant as the people making the stuff.rockchucker22 wrote:Oh come on you know how I get when I mix whisky and rum.....LWTCS wrote:Article said:

The last 2 or 3 incidences I read about over there it seems they were mixing in a pesticide to give it "more kick"

Re: Toxic Pakistan alcohol claims 18 lives
I met a fella over the fourth of July said his Pap was a runner for an outfit in Alabama.
He used to help his dad load the trunk.
He said the outfit that was makin would would install a measure of "battery acid" but he didn't really understand as he was just a boy.
I figure that would make it tricky to accurately read the bead?
Ever hear of that one anybody?

Knew an ATF agents years ago who's job was huntin down stills. He told me adding battery acid was pretty common.
The worst story he told though was findin a still site with a dead wild boar in the wash. He staked it out and when the shiners came back to run it off they just pulled the hog out and started stillin. That was about the time the agent stepped in and said "Hey fellas, haw ya doin?"

Over the years there have probably been all kinds of things added to the wash or the product to supposedly bump the effect. most if not all would be Bullshit based on nothing but ignorance.
Battery Acid, animal urin, insecticide, antifreeze.

That's terrible. And I especially hate the cycle -- some unsavory moonshine operator slips something into his moonshine that makes people sick and kills them, lawmakers take that as an excuse to put the hammer down on our basement stills, which forces us even more underground, which makes it easier for the unethical types to slip Lord-knows-what into their moonshine if they're going to be creating illegal brews anyway. And people wonder why I want to strangle somebody when lawmakers use one or two incidents out of, probably, thousands of people who run a moonshine still (or own a gun, or want to take a plane trip across the country without the TSA agents randomly selecting us for a patdown) as a reason to make life more difficult for the rest of us.
Moonshine is my thing. Also liking my Moonshine Recipe and Still kit.
