FNG Here!

Post by Antidotum »

Hay guys, I'm very new to this "Hobby", but I think I'm off to a good start. I'm one 2" ferrule and tri clamp from having a keg still. Just going with a very simple pot still set up. I currently have 3 kegs and if all goes well with my first, I plan to hand craft something similar to the Hillbilly flute. I'm heading to the hardware store tomorrow to buy a few things that I should be able to make sight glasses out of. Right now I have a thread about a graham condenser http://homedistiller.org/forum/viewtopi ... 6#p7106146 and sooner or later I'm going to be looking for info on ele. heating. But all in good time.

And you may do like me. I used to have all kinds of dreams of fancy stills, but after a few years of using the same simple pot still, I've kindof adopted the position of: If it ain't broke, don't fix it. :D

Welcome aboard, mate.

I'm actually in the middle of constructing my first still and secondly my first time working with copper (minus sweating a pipe together from time to time when the bust under the house). I decided with the boka reflux still. Got the condenser made, went with the cold finger design ( and still thought I was gonna scrap the first one), only to find out I got the wrong cold water in fitting for my water hose! I'm just about done shaping up my plates and am going to be cutting the grooves for them shortly. I'm still waiting on a few pieces of gear, (thermometer, valve, ferrule, and tri clamp) but I should have the bulk of it finished before I go to sleep! How do you make them shinny again?
