A different kind of idea to plates, though maby not cheap

Post by BlackSOL »

I've been thinking on it for a bit, but don't have the money to actually goto the size I believe it would require. The FUN part is, yes, it's simply a guess, but involving physics of surface area of the bubbles, I'm leaning toward the idea this MAY improve plate efficiency, BUT, if the pot burps, your done for though.

The idea is this: Instead of bubblecaps, use the small aerator stones (like from a fish tank), and OF COURSE FOR SAFETY, use a few normal designs of regular bubblecaps just in case the thing burps up some solids if it begins to get plugged in the stones. The thought is that with the smaller bubbles, it would give more yield and transfer of the thing 'WE' want out of it, potentially with more yield per plate.

Now, I've also considered that it may require more cleaning, or even that the aeration stones might not even handle it...I don't know. Just bouncing a potential idea off the more experienced minds of this group and staying open-minded on it, and I suppose we'll see what it comes to...good, bad, ugly, or 'damn, never even considered it' kinda thing.

Even though I didn't say it in my opening 'welcome to the group area'...I'l put it here regardless. Great group, and I've learned a lot from all the reading I've done, and honestly, I think I'd be hard pressed to find a group better than this one!
