Re: favorite mixed drink
Wifey bought me a soda water making machine for Christmas. Saved a ton of money on bottled soda h2o. Now that I can make my own vodka I AM A HAPPY CAMPER. Vodka and club soda for me. All home made. You gotta know I'll be bringing some to the parking lot at Foxboro Stadium on game day's.
PSIIHC and lovin' it.

I would like to mix cold drinks like coca-cola,Thumbs up or dew, ice cube with my whiskey and some amount of lime. That's my perfect wine peg.

Re: favorite mixed drink
My current favorites are hard cider with a shot of fireball dropped in and what is called cinnamon toast crunch, it is fireball (cin. whiskey) with rumchata (milky liquer) mixed half and half and taken as a shot. I welcome the jeers for responding with liquor store drinks. I am just trying to get involved any way I can!

Re: favorite mixed drink
I don't know what this would be called, but I've been making them for the past week.
1 shot my UJSM
1 shot my 50% neutral
1/2 shot my triple sec
Pour over ice in a pint glass. Add half a can of the orange San Pellegrino soda. Stir.
... actually, anything mixed with the San Pellegrino sodas is great. I love those things.

In theory there's no difference between theory and practice. But in practice there is.

The Blood Orange and Lemon ones are ok. But Orange and Grapefruit are excellent. Wifey loves a Sea Breeze made with them Grapefruit ones. Cranberry (3 parts), Grapefruit (1), Neutral or Vodka (1)

Winding down after a long day in the garden with 3 fingers of vodka at room temp, neat. Chased with fruit, smoked meat, and/or cheese. A smoking pipe isn't bad with it either.

Drink mostly whiskey neat. I use to drink gin and tonic and would drink it again if I had some gin. Never tried gin neat, but I'm thinkin' I might like it. I also drink a rum and coke with the SOH once in a while, but can take it or leave it.

Re: favorite mixed drink
Gin. OMG SC don't remind me.
Myself and 3 other guys got Commode Huggin Drunk looong ago in college on Mint Gin. Best I remember we were drinking it with 7 Up....or chasing it or who knows? We thought it was really good at the time....I can NOT to this day drink Anything GREEN or Minty Tastin. Gin? Not me.
I don't even drink Green Kool Aid with the Grandkids.
Oh By the way. Favorite drink is 4 month old Oaked UJSSM, or Jar #3 right out of the Condenser. Sweet Corn.

Re: favorite mixed drink
New favorite summer drink, raspberry flavored whisky with ginger ale. Great drink for a hot summer day
There appears to be an inverse relationship between tangible distilling problems and possible drinking problems...
Re: favorite mixed drink
I like ujsm, or any whiskey really, with a splash of ginger ale. I also enjoy whiskey sour. 2oz of bourbon, 3/4oz concentrated lemon juice, 1 teaspoon sugar. Boy those creep up on ya quicker'n a scalled cat.
I also like rum and coke, mostly amber or dark rum. I've drank vodka and orange juice when I was in my teens but now the orange juice gives me heartburn long before the alcohol has any effect.
I like vodka drink called creamsicle, and white Russians, but rarely drink them.
Loved all the rum cocktails we had in the DR last march, though can't remember many. Bahama mama was one.

Re: favorite mixed drink
I made up a bunch of UJ and mine ain't quite sippin' whiskey.
Don't get me wrong, I've had some damn fine UJ by others, both white and oaked, that was a very fine drop. Mine, not so much.
So I needed to come up with a cocktail that I would enjoy drinking mine in. Here it is.
I started with a standard Manhattan recipe, and experimented from there.
I've played around with the ingredients, and this is what works best with my particular UJ.
I've taste tested various versions of this with some close friends and this is the winner.
It's essentially a "perfect" Manhattan with Peychaud's bitters.
4 parts MCH UJSSM
1 part sweet red vermouth
1 part dry white vermouth
2 or 3 dashes Peychaud's bitters
Mix everything together with some ice and stir for about half a minute, then strain off into a chilled glass.
I guarantee it will take the heat off the end of a summer day, and make the sky look a little bit bluer.
