Dropped a 3.5 year old 8 pointer opening day. Now it is time to fill the doe tags.

you poor poor souls....... the only hunting season in Nz is for ducks (2 months). All year hunting for every thing else. you can shoot as many Deer (5 species), Thar, chamois, or pigs as you can want. For the small game hunter theres Rabbits, Hares, two species of wallaby, Australian possums, and Canadian geese all year round.

Could do with a few more moose, the ones we had didn't flourish.

Sorry, but I just love rubbing it in

Damn you and your progressive thinking states. Can't hunt on Sundays here unless I go to the bird dog club.

Took 1/2 a day on Friday to go scout more ducks and Ruffed Grouse. Bow season opens here this week but shot gun and black powder doesnt open till after thanksgiving. Truth be told I love me some venison but my favorite thing to do is smoke feathers over the dog.

Well Elk season has come and gone, what a major disappointment.

My hunting partner of 30 years thought for the meat we should take the
early season spike only hunt.

Five days of up and down every canyon and draw in the unit.

In five days I saw more than 20 branch bulls and Sunday I had a 6 x 7 that
would have scored 325/335 easy walk a 175 yards from me for over 400 yards,
like he had not a care in the world, Had to uncurl my trigger finger more than once.

Only spike I saw was on private land and more than a mile across a meadow.

Anyone have the recipe for Elk tag soup?
I haven't eaten an Elk tag in more than 20 years

Well time to start goose hunting Saturday.

just got new tags right on a corn field. 35 acres of woods and 30 acres of corn. sign everywhere. the guy who gave us permission said we were the only ones hunting. so we went scouting for a day then back in the next day for hunting. found a nice crab apple tree in the middle of the woods so I sat there. i look to my left and some guy has a nice hang on with bait everywhere... ( illegal here) but i don't mind a little added flavor to the woods. but the guy has no right to be there i got out the stand and walked over found a trail cam and took the sd card. he has had it out for a long time because i got to watch the deer lose there horns and grow them back. very cool. so i put it back yesterday and then hung a note on his stand telling him to call me or get out. so i am going to go put the climber in the tree next to him and hope i see a deer or a person. i just want to shoot something. i hear old men are tough and really gamey.. j/k
