Try turning it slowly while pulling up on it, might find your just missing the sweet spot.

Every thing is cool . I'm used to yall's crass remarks and I take it all with a grain of salt. And I do have a good sense of humor . A person has to on this forum or else he would never return .Ha ! I can take a joke as well as the next guy as long as there's an answer or some useful info in there some where.I can usually glean out the serious responses from all the jocularity. What it really comes down to is lets all have fun AND share our knowledge with others who are partaking in this some what exclusive activity. And to googe , it's going to be a boiling vessel that is not only larger but will eliminate the need for flour paste every time.

It's weird, I can move it like it's loose in there but when I try to lift it up it hits something solid like there is still some thing holding it in.

That's what worked for me. Getting the spring out was relatively easy. But then turning the valve/spear assembly seemed impossible, even after I hit it with a rubber mallet on the end of a screw driver. Sprayed WD 40 and waited . . . hit it ... waited... finally it turned easily.
