Many like to post about a first successful ferment (or first all grain mash), or first still built/bought or first good run of the still. Tell us about all of these great times here.
Pics are VERY welcome, we drool over pretty copper
A couple months ago I did a 5gal UR Rice Vodka ferment a then racked it off to another bucket about a week after it finished. Then I forgot about it...
Well, it got a little bit moldy, so I tossed in about a gallon of other "skanky" alcohol and ran it real, real slow in my boka. Run took about 6 hours in total and I got 1/2gal of 94% neutral. I made really sharp cuts.
Diluted down to 40% and turns out it's some of the best damned vodka I've ever had! It has an almost floral aroma from the rice. First drink I've actually enjoyed! I'm picky and refuse to drink anything I make that's sub-standard. Call me what you want, but I've already got a decent whiskey stockpile going that'll make one hell of a fine drink in a few years time
