TB, didn't realize you wuz a mixologist - sounds like a fine taste.

I been workin' on this bottle of nuke aged SF (JD chips). I didn't like it so much when I first made it, but it's gettin' better. It's 50%, smooth, but very warm. I usually have a couple ounces at bedtime and sleep like a baby.

It does taste great . I didn't last long last night .
I nuked 2 quarts of 60% sweetfeed with 1 stick each of oak and cherry and let it set for 2 months . My son in law and I sampled it last week and he begged me out of the whole half gallon . It had really developed well .

Mind Erasers for my party. I tried to take a pic, they turned out nice, but I dropped my phone in the john last week and the camera stopped working. Here's the short of it...

Highball glass
1 jigger Kahlua, pour carefully to the bottom of glass
1 jigger vodka, layered over the Kahlua with the back of a spoon
Using the back of the spoon, layer soda water to fill glass
Insert straw to the bottom and enjoy...quickly.

The Kahlua coats the tongue and roof of the mouth with goodness. The vodka cuts the goodness, and the soda washes it all away clean. Like you didn't drink anything. More than 2 gets dangerous! Wish "erasing" in-laws was as easy.

Ketel? Hmmm ... sounds like Ketel One. As a Dutchman I should be proud of this wheat vodka ... but I am not. Headsy to me.

Anyhow, I am drinking Grolsch beer. Why? Well, it is a bit hopsy to my taste, but I love those bottles. You know ... they have these re-closable caps. Not sure that makes sense. They are great beer bottles to re-use. And I plan to make some "Dunkles" Muenchen style soon. About 6%.

O, the Grolsch is 5%. Going down like a breeze. Together with a glass of rye bread ... brandy? Dunno. Tell me. How do you call a rye bread sugar head that's distilled at 96%, but has SO much taste I don't even feel like approaching this potstill style?

Drinking a new drink I call porn star and coke. Found a bottle of rum at the store called "Ron de Jeremy". Has a picture of Ron Jeremy on the front. 94 proof rum. Pretty good in coke. Shud have been called big Johnson. Comes in a big, long bottle. Just goes to show you how far you can get in life with a big Johnson.

My white dog jar & Coke. My jar started out as white dog UJSSM, but I've been tossing leftovers from sampling whatever cuts I've been making into it, so it has been constantly evolving. Looking a bit murky today, but it tastes great.

I'm a big fan of Ketel One. So big, I am halfway through a 4.5 ltr bottle I opened on the 28th of Dec. I did have a little help that day though. Still trying to find time for a spirit run on my Rye Bread Rye.

Just had the Master Distiller from One Eight Ditilling over (from Washington DC). We did a few runs together and sampled some product. A very young single malt, some rye vodka, an Akvavit, and half a glass of 70% strong wallnut brandy. Mean while, we made a rye vodka and a gin. I must say, we f*cked up the gin run, because I didn't measure out the botanicals correctly.

Shit happens, but that's no problem. We had a great day together. Hell, they call that "working"?

LOL. I dunno man, I think Id rather drink out of a large bosom or tight ass shaped bottle called Traci Lords LikHer, Or Jenna Jameson Juice or some such.

I watched my first porn movie the other day. Man, I looked a lot younger back then.

Just at work sampling 4 or 5 different Corvo wines from Italy. Pretty good good for the price. You can't tell with just a little sip though so this might take a while.

Just testing & sampling the new products from a fresh start-up Craft Distillery from the northern islands, here, in the Netherlands. Moonshine product is pretty good. Could use a bit more tails. And a slightly higher abv.

I had a management meeting of a fraternity club I am a member of, last night. Told the old boys I'd bring some of my own and they thought it a good idea. I took my Akvavit as well as an all grain (meaning no herbs) rye genever. Half a liter of Akvavit at 43% and 0.7 liters of 38% Genever.

Everybody liked the Akvavit, yet all of them loved the rye genever. Between the six of us (with one being the designated driver and another one being on meds so not able to drink either) we finished both bottles without a hassle. Our chairman walked home merily, singing songs along his way ...

The thing I got back most is that my rye genever is so darn smooth.

$17 for a 1.75L bottle a fantastic deal.

Served dirty with olive jar juice over ice.

Just got home with a bottle of Serbian Slivovitz (plum brandy) brought back by a friend who goes to Serbia every year (wife is Serbian). He brought several different ones back. Some, like this one, are lightly oaked, sweet, cut well and down right delicious! Others he brought back are like sucking the bile out of a 3 week dead pigs gut. He says her village shares a potstill on a cart. Some families know their shit, others dont have the first clue. Clearly.

I just got back from a work trip to Portland OR.
Met the nice fellows at Clear Creek Distillery - picked the poor guys brain clean. Since there was no tour or peek at the production, I figured I better get my .05 worth of info. Took home their 8 year apple brandy for the cabinet.

They Brew beer, make wine and distill on site with organic gardens and all that hippy stuff.
I brought home Black Rabbit Red for the wife and their Spiced Rum for me. It's smooooth!

I am savoring a dram of Isle of Jura 16 year old single malt Scotch. The bottle has been sitting neglected for a year or two since it first joined the "whisky library". All in all, it is much better than I remembered. I was disappointed with it when I bought it, but for the life of me, I don't understand why at this point.

Jimbo, I have the same experience with Palinka from Hungary. One family knows what they are doing, the other does not. Right now I am sipping coffee, since it is only a quarter to 9 in the morning, but in the evenings ... a few white rye bread whiskies sure will go down!

Right now Im drinking an Aussie Blond Pale Ale (lots of Aussie Topaz and Moteuka hops) of my own creation to celebrate 2 things. 1- crafting up some of Odins Easy Gin, give it a look, nice recipe. http://homedistiller.org/forum/viewtopi ... 11&t=40536 and 2 - Just cooked up my Pistol Packin Pilsner to celebrate a new purchase. Lager beers take a cool ferment at 50F for 2 weeks and lagering at 40F for 4 more weeks. This obviously requires temp control. Always a pain for me to juggle fridges and shite so rarely made them. I broke down and bought another chest freezer and put it on temp control. Dedicated lagering chest I now have 5 freezers and fridges in the house. 3 of them dedicated to brewing. Yes I'd prolly benefit from a little psychiatric evaluation.
