Women distillers???

Post by Horsecreek shine »

Is their women distillers ? I ask because of some of the screen names , or more security , identity deal, not to sound sexist and I apologize if I do but it doesn't really seem like a hobby women would be into as most gals are naturally more cautious legally speaking ? Any thoughts
And again I apologize ahead of time for sounding sexist it is not my intent,

Although we don't worry about the legal aspect my wife did 2 out of three runs yesterday. And is one of just a few women distillery owners in the country.

The one we have that fit's within the parameters on this site is a 26 gal 4 plate from a company who has fallen out of favor here and I have been asked not to mention. Love the still but will not buy from them again having learned what I have about their business.
The other two, one pot and another reflux do not meet HD parameters.
Just cranked up our facebook page and will be adding more photos of all our equipment when we can.

The whole fallen out of favor thing seems to be quite prevalent , I have asked a few questions on retailers and usually get a one answer and the topic gets locked, lol and I thought I pissed people off hahaha!

There's women members here. And there's women pretending to be men as part of their cover and vise-versa. There might even be a hermaphrodite or two - don't know.

Just sayin',

As S-Cack has stated we have several women members here, one that comes to mind is Corene1. You should check out her build, she is not only a distiller but very capable welder and fabricator. I also have a future daughter-in-law who is becoming a very capable distiller. Throughout History women have become famous as distillers do a google search you may be very surprised.

A few years ago we had a few very active ladies on the forum, one from Europe that stands out in my mind. I know when it comes to cuts my wife's senses are much better than mine, at least they were when I first started this hobby I can now say mine have improved tremendously.

You know HD now has a craft distillers section now which you probably share what equipment you have there.

Women brewers have an organization for those who are professionals called the Pink Boots Society.
Hopefully soon there will be one for distilling women as well.

Still better than the SHO at making cuts but she is catchin up. Her nose for the slightest nuance in the aged product is more refined than mine and has been verified by many outside sources. I'm guessing years of smoking took their toll on my finer olfactory senses. Gave it up 10 years ago but once the damage is done....

Ok you guys! Yes, I am a woman! I even have a birth certificate to prove it! I would post it but then you would know how old I am! I don't believe in the roles that society has mandated for men and women. I say if you want to try something just do it! Life is too short to miss out on something you want to do because you are a woman. Hey I can even cook and sew too!

I some times slip on the high heels and a nice Black dress while stilling, does that count? :shifty:

All you guys worry too much about offending. I post with a smile on my face all the time. You guys always make me giggle. I am in no way a really serious person, unless something I did doesn't work.

And Googe, you will get a lot more accomplished in flats, but the heels will really make your calves look good. Gotta get rid of the hair though! :D

As I was saying life's too short to get grumpy. My still is nothing fancy just an old pot still but I like it and it works well. I have since gotten rid of the vice grips and installed really neat over centering clamps.

Corene is one to follow on here, one of the few pushing the envelope on all grain whiskey recipe's, and doing careful experiments we can all learn from.

Is it weird that Im talking about you in 3rd person Corene HA! Hi! :D

I may be doing lots of experiments and learning as much as I can, but you have it wired. I always look to you for sound advice and inspiration! Hope all is going well in your end of the woods Jimbo.

Had a new thought today. Making my still modular. I think I want to build a plated column for it. I have tons of stainless but I really want to make it out of copper. I might even go crazy and polish it. Maybe not. Lots of research in my future for sure. I haven't built anything since my 6 oz. mini still!

Any of us would be happy to have Corene1 for a girlfriend if we weren't already attached (speaking for myself only on the attached part ) . If i read her right she will walk behind no man and it is going to be an exceptional feller that can step fast enough to walk beside her . Highest praise I can give her . :)
