What is your favorite whisky glass?

Little or nothing to do with distillation.

What is your favorite whisky glass?

Post by dakotadigger »

This is mine, with one of the best darn liquids to fill it. Neither one is fancy but both fit my world just fine

When my grandpa passed the only thing I asked for of his was his jelly jar. Lot's of history and spirit through that jar. Still my favorite.

I've been using a glass I found in the woods behind my house. No clue how it got there, but there were a lot of old pull tab Pabst beer cans laying around in the same area. It was so crudded up with dirt and grime, it was almost unrecognizable as a glass. I washed it up and have been using it for about 4 years.

On a different note - I walked through an indoor flea market this past Friday. I was purposely searching for whiskey glasses and found 6 in 5 different vendor booths. The one I liked best was found to have a small chip on the rim, so I had to pass on it. One other one I think I'll like using has a picture of a flying duck glazed on one side. Got a great deal on the 5 glasses - $1.75 for all.

If the spirits are neat, I like a snifter.

Nothing wrong with a red solo cup! Unless crscked on the rim to bite your lip! I like my crown tumblers.

Funny, the things that give us comfort. Is it the glass, what's in it, or both? I guess the glass wouldn't mean so much if what's in it sucked and good likker wouldn't give much comfort if sipped from a styrofoam cup.

I think you're spot on there SC. Personally if I'm drinking neat then i use a snifter, if I'm dropping a couple cubes in i generally use some sort of rocks glass.
There's whisky in the jar

I usually drink 50% ABV and find it to be a little torturous on the alfactories. I don't think I could ever handle it in a snifter. I drink everything from a small whiskey glass.

I bought 5 more glasses today in a thrift store. I got 2 sets of 2 and an oval shaped glass with a small Playboy bunny etched into one side. 2 of the glasses look similar to the ones in the OP's pic at the start of the thread. So, with the 5 I bought last Friday, I now have 10 to choose from.

What is your favorite whisky glass?
A quart mason jar with only three fingers of shine.
Any more than that might lead to excess drinking.

Got some standard crystal rocks glasses with my initials engraved. It was a present from being part of a wedding. That way if I pick up the wrong drink I can point to my initials and claim it as my own. I recently won two glasses at a church festival at a dime toss. Took me seven bucks for the pair but 1 is like a Glencairn glass with pine trees covered in snow on it and another has the flying duck also, might be similar to your's S-C. both gold rimmed, pretty snazzy.
People talk about my drinking but never about my thirst.
