Storing diluted feints

I know not to store anything with any real proof in plastic. But If I dilute my BW that I am running a second time to 40% and store it in a 5 gal water bottle it will be fine will it not? I'm basing the thought on that you can buy stuff like garbage Southern Comfort 100 proof in plastic pint bottles so why not.

i personally would not store any of my product in plastic whether diluted or not

If it matters at all it will only be about a week or less.

It will still have time to leech undesirable components out of the plastic, get some demijohns or a glass carboy if you want to store feints at that proof.

Yeah I have a few glass carboys. I'll just use one.

I've always wondered about those big plastic cubes with a metal frame around them that the big distillers store their distillate in. They look to be about 200 gallons or so. I think they use them to transport the distillate from the distillery to the bonded warehouse or bottler. what is it about THAT plastic that makes it ok to use, or is it? Anybody know what it is or anything more about it?

I believe those "totes" are HDPE. As far as our fine governments are concerned, PET is safe for spirits. I don't necessarily have a problem with it but I store in glass anyway.
I can tell you that the standard hard rubber bung for carboys has become hard and brittle on the top of my feints carboy. That tells me something and I have switch to a cork.
Firm believer in better safe than sorry.
