My first run awesome

Many like to post about a first successful ferment (or first all grain mash), or first still built/bought or first good run of the still. Tell us about all of these great times here.
Pics are VERY welcome, we drool over pretty copper 8)

Third run is rocking on. Starting to get the hang of this distilling stuff. Everyone loves the Ujssm sweet run can't wait for the next it's my true sour mash going to be awesome. Got a fermenter freed up now I'm going to do that Concord brandy, any harm in adding apple or grape concentrate to make my 5 gal volume? Just want to be prepared. I love this stuff!

Well it's 7*f outside and I had the best run yet, my first run of Ujssm with backset 10g plus a gallon of low wines from previous runs some hearts. After all was said and run I ended up with a gallon and a half of good likker gave up 3 pints to fores n heads ran to 80 proof and shut her down I was into tails and freezing my tail off. To anyone who says keeping a quart from 5gal and rerunning isn't worth it I've got a gallon with the lowest proof at 115 of fine shine. Thanks to you all for the wisdom and encouragement. Still on Melloman.

The one good thing about running in the cold as you saw I was doing too.... is that if you are doing multiple runs and want to recharge quickly it only takes about 5 minutes for your column to be cool enough to be handled with gloves. Bout 10 min for the boiler (well for my keg anyways) to be handled with gloves.

He'll yeah man I'm ready for this severe cold to end it ain't even for the birds, not my chickens anyway I opened them up and they flipped me the bird. I didn't know they could even do that. Seriously tho how have your runs gone? Good I hope for 20$ and some time I've made gallons already in my first 5 runs, and it tastes good too. That Ujssm makes a damn good apple pie can't keep it around, I've put some 125pf in a jar with fresh charred oak and it's pretty and tastes good too. I love this stuff man. Melloman

I ran a run today of 10g fluids and most of the grains of a 70% corn 30% 6row and it was like yesterday's visit to the distillery and my few months of running changed not only how I run, but who I am in this capacity. Set up was automatic no fumbling no apprehension no oh shit is this damn thing gonna blow up and kill me and burn down my house, it was gone? The is this going to be good replaced with I know it will be good pull a jar from the middle maybe two to keep momma happy"she likes my stuff, I do too"nothing else matters. Reassured and reinvigorated it went smooth as silk not a hiccup. All the desire I had then gone too, transformed into confidence and an understanding greater than showing my friends I could do it, to making something that only mattered to me, to my taste, what I strive for, what I know will get better still. Not a Ujssm but an AG what was my holy grail, it still is, what I like the most what pleases me. That's the journey to prove nothing to no one but me. I feel it marks a new day and a new goal, what is that goal? Not a clue, but I know I've got some corn soaking in some backset getting groovy with itself waiting for that malt to change its destiny.

I want to say thanks again, to everyone at HD what started then has became now, tomorrow's another day. I enjoy the hobby the people the forum, I know you but have never met, see you without vision and hear you without a voice, you've been to my house, in my life and left a mark that will never go away. Thank you not just for helping coax alcohol from sugar, grain, and yeast. For making me see the world in a new way a better way. From a humble man thank you. Now let's figure out something new and learn more too. Somo. Oh yeah Goose eye there's a lot in there I would still learn to know our Boomhauer.
