Distillation with the Turbo 500 Reflux still

Post by Godzilla2456 »

Hey gentlemen,

I'm using a Turbo 500 reflux still and I'm just wondering how many drips per second I should be aiming for. Or how many MM of spirit a minute.

At the recommended settings for the T500, they tell you to aim for 60 degrees C. Although it seems like there is a lot of alcohol coming out very quickly at that temp. I'm talking a good probably 8 drops a second. Well it's not even dripping, it's a constant stream.

I've dropped the temperature back to around 54 C and it's a lot slower. Around 3 drops a second.

Is it true that the slower it drips out the better it will be? Thank's guys.

PS - I'm distilling a birdwatchers mash, if that has any importance

I find the more I drink, the more interesting others become.
