Just curious because I would think with the size of this forum we would have heard about more instances, did you buy a full still with boiler and if what size boiler was it? Maybe they are targeting certain sizes that produce larger amounts?

That's on the high side for hobby sized boilers but not by much.

That being said, if you were to ask 10 ATF agents how much likker that would produce, I would bet more than a few would say 26 gallons. More than enough to distribute in their eyes.

Don't mean to offend anyone who may be a Federal Law Enforcement Agent (I feel confident that several are members) but I doubt they have too many classes on the actual distillation process. I have been wrong before though.

I'm surprised it hasn't come up yet but.... Who did you piss off? There's only one reason they would come at all and it ain't because of a list. It's because someone told them you were selling out of your business. My guess anyway.
Maybe it was the list and they were curious about it being sent to a place of business??

Yep been wondering that also, I know our government isn't efficient but five agents to see if someone has a still off a list? I'm wondering if there might be more to the story....
It seems if they really were checking on folk on the list we would have heard many stories such as this..

One way to find out more would for the op to call and ask them whats going on . hes been checked and apparently is clear with them. Another would be for some one to call and ask the local news station there about it .May get a reporter to do the work for ya .They are always looking for news .

Just out of curiosity, if you were to send the still back would your name and address remain on that list?

Id bet my 30 year, or more, bottle of Seagram's 7, that it would stay on the list.

It'd be VERY helpful for those "Manufacturers & Suppliers" that have had a visit, post such a visit here at HD.

That's what I thought as well. I wouldn't want my name on a list for a life time.

I'm sure they will be more than willing to furnish that info if you ask. They are registered as sellers/builders so its no sweat for them. I don't think they care who buys their product. Really why would they?

The sellers and builders will go out of business soon as this information gets out widespread. 2 visits in a day from 5 ATF agents, threats, seizures, game over.

Perhaps shutting down the builders is the agenda here. And if its not illegal to build and sell them, they found another avenue to accomplish their agenda.

sounds viable Jimbo but I'd guess most of the sellers are legal registered builders and have clients that are legal users/owners. The little guy will hurt for sure.

So let's see if I have this right...

Marijuana is being "normalized" & taxed at a HUGE level
We "invite" folks to illegally "immigrate" to get them "out of the shadows and paying taxes"
The Gov't fines folks for making their own bio-diesel (http://www.treehugger.com/corporate-res ... iesel.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" rel="nofollow)
The gov't puts up red-light cams for our "Safety", then dismantles them when not enough people run the red (ie generate revenue)
My home is worth about 60% of what it was in 2007, yet my property taxes (based on home's value) are higher each year (yes I fight them)

I kind of see a pattern...

But we all know they really motivated into doing the raids and such "for the children" and "the public's safety"

I feel your pain aquavita, and agree with your inference. But lets not turn this into a political rant. Would be very very easy to do in light of recent events and state of the union.

not being a nay sayer but I doubt it goes that deep. I would think they are busy enough but with a call regarding selling they would for sure act and quickly.
who knows though really

On this statement it leads me to wonder. The builder's/Seller's have to keep info on who they sell to and where they ship them to. In some states VA, and evidently FL as example it is illeagal to own a still period no questions ask. How do the sellers get by with selling and shipping to those states anyways?

Maybe it's just a gang of ole boys drivin' around in black LTDs posing as ATF agents so they can steal stills. Got the list by hackin' Hillbilly Stills' server. Hey, a flute with a 26 gallon boiler - that would be a real prize.

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing!

But, then again, he could just be a longtime lurker that was trying to keep an extra-low profile, but got snagged by "the list" anyway. Hard to say for sure.

I did some searching, you can find posts here or on other forums that indicate which mfrs received a request for records from the TTB in June or July of last year. HBS, Milehi, Brewhaus. Interestingly, SD claims they did not receive a request and so does Clawhammer.

I don't know all the mfrs names but these were the big ones I could remember

I also saw posts indicating that they're only required to report buyers of columns and boilers, not other equipment.
Easiest way to avoid being on a TTB list is to not purchase a boiler, full column, or condensor from a retailer. Build your own.

Most times when a new member posts here that they may be buying a still, someone will warn them of the possibility of the sale being reported to TTB. Clawhammer doesn't sell stills - they sell pieces of cut copper sheets that YOU can make into a still if you so desire.
