My first all copper build!

Many like to post about a first successful ferment (or first all grain mash), or first still built/bought or first good run of the still. Tell us about all of these great times here.
Pics are VERY welcome, we drool over pretty copper 8)

My first all copper build!

Post by mannye »

I'm going to "cheat" and go with a Clawhammer kit. I figure if I screw it up I can at least have a nice (although extremely expensive) decorative piece. Even if I move into a bigger unit later, this is still a really nice looking "sculpture" that will have a prominent place on a shelf.

Sold my Road Runner convertible to clear out the garage for beer, mead and mash!

be careful ordering kits. big brother is watching.
Dear lord, please allow this dangerous combination of hair spray, bat slobber, and DOT4 automatic transmission fluid to excite my mind, occupy my spirits, and enrage my body.

Look up "parrot" for pics.

They allow you to keep an eye on ABV during a run "on the fly".

Not true in this case, Kits aren't tracked
From their website (http://www.clawhammersupply.com/blogs/m ... ine-part-2" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" rel="nofollow):
6. The Feds Will Have Access to Your Personal Information
Federal rules require some manufacturers of distillation equipment to keep record of customer names and information. Clawhammer Supply is currently NOT required to provide information to the TTB and is one of the only companies on the web where parts can be purchased without threat of your personal information being handed over to the feds. Even if we were given notice to collect and provide customer information, it would not be applied retroactively. In other words, customers who purchase equipment before notice is given have nothing to worry about. Because we have not yet been given notice to maintain a customer database, your personal information is safe with us.

If purchasing a still online, make sure to email or call the company selling the item and ask them if they are required by the TTB to maintain a database of customer information. Read more info in this article we wrote on moonshine laws.
Easiest way to avoid being on a TTB list is to not purchase a boiler, full column, or condensor from a retailer. Build your own.
