Greetings all, I have been a long time lurker on this site and decided to finally create an account and get more active. I am in the Midwest, in my mid thirties and really just enjoying experimenting/tinkering as well as cooking. I have a medical background though I now work in non patient care. Like a lot of folks I did a bunch of reading on here before jumping in, I purchased a mile hi dual purpose rig and an 8 gallon milk can so I could wrap my head around the process before diving into a build which has worked out great (with the exception of that thermostatically controlled heating element..... I still can't figure out why he's bundling that as it just cycles and smears your runs). Anyway I started with a turbo wash for the sacrificial run, then I moved on to bird washers, lately I have been sucked into the vortex of odins recipes (cornflake and the raisin brandy/easy grappa). When it warms up outside I am planning on some ujssm and sweet feed (provided I can find a decent mix up here that doesn't have pellets or "nutritional oils" added. I am really interested in dabbling in all grain but I want to wait until I build a new rig that I can control a bit better. I will likely work on that this summer (likely start with simple copper pot still rig with a thumper using kegs then work up to a boka).
All in all I have had a blast reading this site and playing with my current set up. I never would have been able to get up and running so quickly or have as much fun with this hobby if it wasn't for you guys, I really do appreciate all of your effort in building this repository and keeping the dialogue going.
Hey look another new guy
