Brown Sediment, Stripping run
Hey guys. Doing my first stripping run of a 12% straight corn mash. and im getting some brown sediment collecting in the bottom as well as floating on top. Already ran water through the still twice before and even some wine and did not have this problem. Still is made of SS and copper worm. Any suggestions? When i shook one jar up it seemed to dissolve, but that does not give me much comfort. Thanks

Sounds like you might be getting some puking happening. You stated you did your cleaning runs and a sacrificial run with some wine.
How clear or clean was your wash going into the boiler?

I'd do a vinegar run, then a sac alcohol run. Then make liquor.
Distilling at 110f and 75 torr.

Bet there were some wine lees in the system someplace. Did you rinse after your sac alc run?

Re: Brown Sediment, Stripping run
the wash going into the boiler was very clean. i cold crashed it at 32F for about 3 days. and a straight corn is as follows: Straight Corn whiskey refers to an American whiskey which is distilled from a mashbill of at least 80% corn. These are usually not aged in new charred oak barrels (the custom with bourbon) and are thus not referred to as Straight whiskeys. Typically, Straight Corn Whiskeys are old-fashioned, and their production has enjoyed a renaissance recently, as these early styles of whiskey are produced in a similar manner to that in which they were produced hundreds of years ago. I did not however do a cleaning run after i ran the wine. Thanks for the input fellas

In my AG's I always get a bit of stuff to come out, kinda brown. I attribute it to puking, no biggie if you are going to run it again. I run them really fast, if I slow down it doesn't happen nar as much
People talk about my drinking but never about my thirst.
