Old Texas Sheep Rancher
I am a sixty year old retired from the rat race and now ranching meat sheep in Texas. I have learned to brew beer and make homemade wines and wish to broaden my knowledge base. I have an over abundance of prickly pear cactus and want to learn to produce something from the pads. I use the fruits for wine. There are several companies that use cactus to make vodka and if anyone has any insight into this process I would appreciate the information. There are several bags of all grain sweet feed and deer corn in the barn and I might need to find a use for it besides feeding the livestock and wildlife. Thanks, Ed.

Welcome to HD!
If you made wine from the cactus it's just one more step to distilling it. Think "tequila".

I made wine from the cactus fruit and am hoping to make more from the plant itself.T-Pee wrote:Welcome to HD!
