Second run

Post by snooka »

I have a question on cuts. I did two five gallon stripping runs tossing fores on both, then mixed both of them together and diluted to 40% and ended up with 2 gallons for a spirit run. I charged the boiler and collected in 150ml intervals for a total of 1850ml when i stopped fearing that the element would be exposed? So my guestion is would i still be able to make good or some cuts collecting from 83% down to 75% where i stopped a total of .50 gallon?

Sure. You've probably got heads and a little hearts collected. The still didn't know it was going to shut down early, so it was just going about business as usual.
Distilling at 110f and 75 torr.

You should be able to get some good product out of it. But I would think you might have left some of the hearts behind.

If your worried about your element being exposed dilute your low wines down further. Adding extra water will slow your heat up time, lower your ABV of the distillate some, should make a smoother product and may strip some flavors but not too much.
