Whiskey Bottles
A good whiskey deserves a good whiskey bottle don't you think.

Those are cool!
Used to be I trolled antique stores for kerosene lamps. Now it's mainly pottery bottles and jugs. Made an interesting glass find lately too.
Good thread!

Love the old bottles. I'm sure some of the old timers on here remember them quite well.

If anyone else has any interesting old whiskey or spirit bottles, please post them. Would love to see them.

This has to be the crown jewel in my collection. Has a pretty cool back story. My parents were tearing out the ceiling, in their basement. Old house, so it was all plaster and lathe. I started to take out a section, and this came out, and literally bounced off the ground. How it didn't break, I haven't a clue. I have tried to do some research, but haven't found anything. My favorite part is the vague alcohol content on the label.Anyhow... Enjoy.

Re: Whiskey Bottles
I have a box of really cool designed bottles but found with their odd shape it's hard in my liquor cabinet to store as they are different heights and shapes, so for whiskey I now have a bunch of Bushmill bottles that I like as they are all the same height and square shape so they stack well and I can fit more bottles in the cabinet. I use a rounder clear bottle for my vodka drinks, and have a few different shapes for my liqueurs.

For more modern bottles I like the Torani coffee syrup ones with a #6 cork.
When I get home I'll snap a pic of my small collection and share.

Re: Whiskey Bottles
I pick up bottles from many different places. As long as I don't pay more the $2 or $3 dollars a piece for them. None collectable but for my use that's not really necessary. I do have a slew of collectable decanters and a few bottles I've gained over the years all though none shown below. Some nice liquor sets as well.

Couple of favorites from my collection.
The Old Taylor is from 1948.
The gallon Seagram's is from 1961.
Wish they were both full.

I get a good supply of Jagermeister bottles from a friend of mine that owns 2 bars . They store well and are durable . My prize is my great grandfather's 5 gallon stoneware jug that he kept filled for personal use . Been my goal to fill that with some of my best and set it back for a few years .
Dadgum kids keep defeating that goal by consuming most of what I make . I see me building them their own damned stills in the near future so I can reach my goals .

Re: Whiskey Bottles
Found this one in a local antique shop. Jimmy Durante was a family friend and my grandfather played in his band.
Made about 1980, this decanter has a working music box that plays his signature "Inky Dinky Do". And the fun part?
It's full of the original corn whiskey.

On the way home with Jimmy on the front seat of the truck I stopped by another spot that I troll and found this hand-painted bourbon bottle.
Now, you know damn well this one comes from well before the Civil Rights Movement:

Re: Whiskey Bottles
This is my other baby. There's only a few things I know about it. I "inherited" it after my grandfather passed. No other whiskey drinkers in the family. And, its from 1988, or earlier, as there are no surgeon general labels to be found. I have been saving it for a special occasion, and I figure the birth of my first child in September is a good enough one.

Re: Whiskey Bottles
The birth of any child is cause for celebration . Celebrated 4 of them in my own home and went into full time parenting mode . My kids went where I went . Some crusty places I avoided for the betterment of all after I got them . The investment paid off . Spending time with my kids and exposing them to life I'm talking about .
>All my children are accomplished professionals today and I only had to go get 1 out of jail one time . One of the attributes they share is that they can get down to the level of the folks working for them that aren't as advantaged . Many of their peer level management cohorts who were city reared have no clue on how to get along with people .
