I've often wondered about this as there are a lot of varieties of corn out there but not nearly as many grown anymore since all of the hybrid's that were developed between the 30's through the 50's.

At the mention of old corn varieties I'll add that I'm finally doing an isolated Holcomb Prolific grow just for seed this year. Hoping to someday see a couple of seed catalogs carrying it for people interested.

I can tell you it makes fine hominy and equally fine drink.

I'm having fits to try this too. I can't find seed at any seller, nor any old timers around here. I have gone so far as to ask for some on a gardening forum I frequent, fingers crossed.
