propane burner for keg
I am having trouble finding a burner big enough to fit a keg. This is for mashing only, not a part of the still itself. Recommendations?

If you're looking for premade, looking for propane turkey-fryer stands is usually a good place to start.

Re: propane burner for keg
My propane burner is just the right size to make a holding a keg more of a balancing act. Fortunately there are 4 notches in the top ring just the right size to hold some short pieces of rebar. I took 2 and spanned them across the ring so the keg sits steady. The notches hold the rebar in place so the keg doesn't roll off. A simple addition that makes for a very stable setup.
My product may touch nothing but SS, copper, PTFE or glass from boiler to jar but otherwise my setup looks like a tribute to Rube Goldberg.

I use a propane tiger torch and a tire rim , holds a keg perfectly. Takes
30-40 min to reach temp

I used a Bayou Classic 60,000 btu burner with a modified wheel rim and a wrap around heat shield with the same kind of positive results .oilguy wrote:I use a propane tiger torch and a tire rim , holds a keg perfectly. Takes

After dropping into the grease only until he floats. Probably about ten minutes!

I suppose I could weld some rods to the top to make it bigger. Another inch on each side of a bayou would work. I could even notch the rods to hold the keg in place better.
Thanks for a simple solution.

Here's what I came up with. 3/8" stainless rod welded to the bottom of the keg. I figure this way I can use it with any burner. After all, I may want to boil crawfish or sweetcorn some day, or switch to a 102QT BOP.
