The reason we are all here

is because a few individuals cared enough to create and run this incredible site to make us all better at the craft and quite possibly make us all better people by interacting with their creation.

I have checked out all the sites pertaining to distilling and this one offers the truest community of them all. Hands down.
If you see a name in bright red they deserve the highest of praise. Purple as well. And so many others who are the heart of this community who have advanced the craft relentlessly out of love. Ya'll know who you are.

Some of us were recently chosen to help as Forum Mods. I was honored to be asked to step up to this and I hope I have not disappointed.

Started this thread so anyone who would like to give it UP for the creators have an opportunity.

I found the parent site about the time i started building my still, it took me a year before i ever clicked on the forum button, i am so glad i did. You folks have been a true blessing to me, and i have become a forum junkie,its my favorite pastime next to stillin. So thank you all!!!

I found this site about a year ago. About 6 months after my first experience with forums. I said to myself: " There has to be a forum for this!" . I was just looking for recipes. So glad I made it here. Just an idea of how far my knowledge has come... This was what I was going to originally to do..

Please don't laugh. Instead use me as a cautionary tale. I had NO clue about the dangers involved in this hobby. Luckily, my desire for knowledge outweighed my monetary funds. In the span of one year, HOLY $HIT! I feel websites like Instructables, whom I highly respect, needs better quality control. They do have some cool stuff on there. Three months of reading, solid, and I started an all Cu build. Then, at X-mas time, I started an all SS Boka build. Now, this is turning into an Oscar speech... Too many people to thank, for their guidance, and not enough time...

So, I'll say this... Thank you Homedistiller forums for not killing me, and the ones I love.

This forum has brought together the whole world of knowledge of distilling,people from every continent together for one common interest, making a good drink.
The by product is communication, friendships, and a better understanding of each other. Thank you HD and all the people who make it work so well. Kept me from making a pressure cooker similar to KY's story. For that little bit of Snuffy Smith in us all, we can't or won't ignore. Cheers guys!

Thanks for posting this Woodshed, I did something similar a while back listing members that are older and no longer active that brought this forum up to the current century with innovative ideas at the hobby scale. I belong to a lot of forums that deal with distilling or more specific absinthe forums. This is the only forum I visit just about everyday and probably 5-6 times a day. It is by far the most active forum, and like I said not only do knowledgeable members deserve the thank you's but also new members for it is their fresh ideas, questions that start topics where everyone learns something new. In my later years before retiring I would say if I went to a conference and only learned one or two new things it was worth the time and money attending.

Home Distiller is not the best stillin site on the net! It is the best site on the net, period. Got to start of by thanking Uncle Jessee and his insight and foresight in starting this and everyone that has helped along the way. We also have the most diverse followers. Got to thank those guys that really know their craft whether it be sugar or all grain or flavored or stainless or copper that don't mind sharing everything they know. Put all that together and you have the best site on the net.

Great thread you started, woodshed. Gives me a great chance to thank everybody for all the advice, support, and contribution of knowledge that has got me to where I am now without being another darwin victim. I remember about 20 years ago my interest first started. Few years later made a small stock pot still. Never really stuck to it. After a few mediocre batches kinda makes ya rethink. And now, here I am. After finding this site, building a proper still, using good recipes and making cuts, I am hooked. I keep a couple ferments on the go which finish at different times and keep me occupied running and practicing making cuts. Without this site I would still be making the occasional mediocre at best with my undersized stock pot. So thanks again, for all the teachings and guidance, for making the mistakes and taking time to tell us so we don't make the same ones! .

yeah I think when I first started lurking this was the only distilling forum of its type around and it remains the largest wealth of useful information concerning distillation in the English speaking world . My hat goes off also to the efforts past and present to the Adim and mods. I spent a couple of years as a global Mod on a fairly busy distilling forum, starting at a very busy and troubled time I know too well how much time and effort at times is required

Goose eye, when I finish translating what you write, I couldn't agree more.
I have spoke with the old school boys that used to hide in the Smokey's, jumping back and forth between North Carolina and Tennessee to keep away from the law. I have learned a bunch, mostly on malting my corn. Would like to learn more.

For now, I just can't beat this forum for all the information I have learned.
Hard to believe I found the link to this site from " those who shall not be named".
