Have the new 4500w electric in, controller is the SD DIY controller. When I finished it I tested with some plain water in the boiler, no shocks, controller controlled it properly & it was at a rolling boil in under 1/2 an hour.
Now filled it with 6 gallons of 40% low wines for the first real test, & with the column on the thing is whistling like a kettle within 30 seconds of firing it up, just concerned if this is normal.
new electric element heating, whistling normal?

Water, mash and low-wines sound different, when heating up.
Don't know why, but they do.

All good, just did the whistle for a few minutes as it was heating up, so guessing it was normal. Just the sound of a boiling pot now.
It is quick, barely 15 min to get up to running temps, I'm happy!

If the sound a pot makes coming up to temp makes you worry, add a thumper
