new member stripping ?
hello, im just starting and recently purchased a liquid management 2" compound column still from Olympic distillers on a 15.5 keg. I started a birdwatchers for my first run and it quit bubbling 2 days after a really active 5-6 days and I autosiphoned it over to buckets with airlocks. my questions are about letting it clear out(what it should look like when ready to run) and if I do a stripping run is it necessary to let the wash sit to clear? im trying to decide whether to run it in reflux or pot still mode and just do a quick stripping run, thank you for any advice JW in N.C

Re: new member stripping ?
Ive done countless BW washes. A day or two to settle out solids should suffice. Crystal clear is possible but not necessary.
I find BW benefits greatly from stripping runs in a 15.5 gal still. I do a 50 gallon ferment in 4x strips. Makes at least 5 gallons of 100 proof vodka, depending on my cuts and OG of the wash.
BW from a pot still would not make a neutral. That recipe is intended for reflux columns.

I am not a reflux kinda guy. If I was was i would say Welcome roscoe and do pot mode first and run low wines on a spirit run.

+1 strips in pot mode then spirit run in reflux.
Everything's better home made, everything!!
