My wife hated it at first. Her stepdad was a hard core alcoholic and just died from liver failure. She was afraid that would be the road I was headed down and making unlimited supplies of hard alcohol would almost guarantee it.

Fortunately I don't drink much hard alcohol, I just enjoy the process. She needs to worry more about the beer brewing, that is the part that will keep me drunk all the time.

Now she is planning the Brew Room. Beer brewing/distilling man cave, set up as a bar with a bunch of the goodies that I have scored from scavenging.

Her tune changed when our friends kept asking for more, especially the edumacated ones.

If I just made Pinot Grigio, then we would both be in trouble!!!
There is no such thing as a stupid question....... Unless you didn't research it first.

I have to say I have a good one who puts up with a lot of crap from me. she helps me a bit with the hobby but is afraid to go out in the garage ever since that last cave-in in the east tunnel. I tell her I got all the stuff shored up better and there is no chance of another one, well probably no chance...O.K. a little chance... some chance...O.K. to be honest the chance of another one is probably pretty good but it only took 2 days to dig my way out. Anyway, I made an extension cord to go from the garage to the living room so this winter we can run together.

My pretty girl is with me 100% my biggest consumer and critic, as long as there's stock in the closet she's happy. If I tell her she needs corn she gets it. She's bought and consumed a few shots of this or that and always goes back to mine, no hangover no headache just a good time. I've gotta make some good fire piss since PP gave me that bottle that's all I've heard from her. Doing this goes along with our ideal of doing for ourselves. Mashing in the cooler in the kitchen one night she says oh I'm cramping, then proceeds to sit on the hot cooler for two hours, named that batch aunt Flo's bourbon.
Everything's better home made, everything!!

Wow, When I posted this question, I had no idea....

When I posted this question, I had no idea how much it would continue to gain replies, or for how long it would keep going. Now for all of you
out there, who's wives have been understanding, even enjoying helping you with your distilling, buy that woman something NICE. For all you
who have wives that tolerate it, consider yourself lucky. Those who have wives who dislike your hobby and give you grief over it, I am SORRY.
I am among the very lucky. I get dinner served to me at the still, if I'm out there, drinks, ect. She not only enjoys watching me go through
the whole process, she helps and learns. Even gives me ideas on what to try fermenting next. UNLIKE my EX. She gave me nothing but GRIEF
whenever I started to start a batch to ferment, I would get the whole "Great, going to be spending more time with that stupid thing than me, ect
ect. Hell, my wife even likes to check out the forum as well. Finds it funny and informative.

Hello there fellas!
This is Mrs. Fermented1  My dear hubby has stepped out to the corner store for some smokes.
before he left, he said that he had been bragging about me on here, so I had a peek.
First, let me say that I am so happy that he is so happy. we both have stressful, annoying jobs that necessitate an outlet at the end of the day. His hobby allows him to spend time learning and being creative. This forum supports that and offers friendship and insight. He has distilled his own creations in the past, but I don't think he's ever had so much fun at it as he does now, with being able to ask questions here and bounce ideas off of you guys.

I myself am a bit of a tomboy and a gearhead at heart, so I'm familiar with the science behind distillation and find it interesting. I also enjoy spending time with him working on it, and, of course, partaking of the fruits of his labors!

Plus, I have the best Hubby in the world... just sayin.... :D

...yes I like smileys...
:moresarcasm:

Distill on, boys!

mine supports me and anything im interested in. not really a drinker herself but a couple shots and cant she stay out of the bedroom :) had a baby last jan. (on my birthday) and haven't had too much time to get things bubbling again until recently and im really excited to get back in the swing of things. I should also add I support her in anything she wants to occupy her time with also (cant expect her to let me do my thing it she cant do hers) Somo- might have to set up a meet/tasting sometime as im only about 45m from the bourbon sign you posted a while back. I would love to have a use for my Moss500 but only have one friend that hunts who is constantly busy.

My wife turns a blind eye to most everything I do in the garage. As long as I dont run the bank account down or the credit card up she doesnt much care. If I spend too much time in the garage she lets me know, I spend some time with the family and am set free. I do so much in the garage half the time she doesnt know what I am doing. I usually multi task too. She wanted a new table, so I fired up the still and then started on her table. Had it all together and ready for stain while doing a proofing run. Or I wrench on whatever bike I am building at the time. So maybe she doesnt realize how much time I spend behind the still. Either way I am happy, and she doest mind.

Fermented1, your wife and my wife must never meet! Had mine got on here, she would have typed very similar lol. If they ever met, you and I would be forced to stay at the still...mine brings me dinner when I'm running...hmm, thinking of it now, perhaps they should meet. "Forced" to keep the still going while being brought dinner...tough life that would be!

You've got a great on there my friend! A toast to all our supportive SOH's, and another so those that aren't may someday see the light!

I hear ya. This wife is NOTHING like my ex wife. This one is loving, supportive, caring, works, cooks, cleans, honest, and most of all, she does not
fuck my "so called" friends. She is everything you could want in a women. Beautiful, great in bed, and only gripes at me about important stuff like
me eating too much fried food, my blood pressure, ect. ect. I am truly blessed, having her.
