If those are Chinese built sight glass components, I can almost guarantee that the seals for the glass tube on those are peroxide cured silicone. If I were to use silicone in a still (which I would not), I would try to find platinum cured silicone seals. But you probably won't be able to without spending a bunch of money, if you could even find some of the proper dimensions. PTFE would be much better than silicone, if you ask me.

That is good news then, all of the ones that I have seen locally have silicone gaskets for the glass tube.

Might have to get a few of those in 2", at $49ea, you can't go wrong.

No, I ordered the wrong size reducer.
Not knowing any better, I thought the used stainless i bought on ebay was 1-3/4"
turns out they were 1-1/2". ordered the right one but waiting on a slow boat from china
plus some 1-1/2" ptfe gaskets (the ones i recieved were black rubber)
but gonna pick up some 54% silver solder and proper flux so i can get started tomorrow
But here's my collection of parts so far

That's a good lookin pile of parts. i used my spare parts a few weeks ago and made a pot still, then added a 3/8" coil for reflux, making it a cm. My first still is an lm, i just couldn't detune it well enough to make a full flavored whiskey. Im lookin forward to your build.

I'm planning something similar with 2" from that same supplier. I'm trying to put some copper in there too but not sure of which connection to use yet. Curious to see how you put them together.

I've got a 2nd keg i will put my 40" column on,
just stumped about the RC.
was a 3/8th coil big enough?
i want to put it in a 6" piece of two inch with ferrules .
to mount on top my sightglass
they were $29.00 so i bought 2 of them
one for each build

This thread is radically different than what a thread 10 years ago would have entailed. Such an amazing place in time we are allowed to inhabit.

The coil holds itself in place by spring tension, i wish i could remember exactly what i wrapped it around to make it. it needs to be a bit smaller than the o.d. of your column. my column is 2 1/8 o.d. & i think i wrapped it around some 2.0" stock i had in the shop.

Thank you. That looks great. My parts from ebay won't get here until January. I'll see if I can build my condenser in the meantime.

I plan to run it as a pot still for quite a while until I get the hang of it but then I was thinking of adding or making something like this:

http://stilldragon.com/index.php/2-shor ... otgun.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" rel="nofollow

Or make a section like that out of copper that is a boka design.
