Is this all grain right?

Post by mrhoden2 »

I have a question that will take a while to get to simie i been sipping my hooch. I started a first all grain today. Tired of the cheap sugar wash so want to be a High Class Drunk. Started with 50lbs of 2 rows Malted barley and 25lbs of English Peated Moss.. Seeped in 2 batches for a 30 gallon wash. My mash ton didnt work as good as I wanted so the wife and I did it the hard way. 156 degree over the grain, found out the piping wasn't working so with thick glove and strainer, we did it the hard way with pillow case, hard work, and a bunch of arguing.
I ran my water over the grain 3 times to extrat all the sugar as I could. I was expecting so we here around 8% abV. I ended up with 14%, or 1.056sg. I have ran only sugar washes before and was told to dont expect a high sp point. Did i use too much 2-Row? My wash was still too hot to add yeast s will pitch it tomorrow, i just want to make my good stuff is inline with what I want.
