Moonshiners or State of the Union Address?

Post by MoonBreath »

Not going political, just keepn this thread simple.

I'll probably watch Moonshiners ...Probably more accurate, definitely less bs. :lolno:

Yes, she's finer than a froghair ...That big homemade 190 tube Gatling condenser that Popcorn made is pretty impressive ..Also the dephlag with the perforated plate enclosed in that Appalachian style cap gets me thinkn alittle ...Then I get to thinkn bout all the improvements I would make ..

Well, it's impressive in concept, but looks like the top of it's made with JB weld.. and it's recessed so it would pool there pretty badly.

I somehow missed that there would be a perf plate in that cap. I thought it was in there just for the magic of it lol. Kinda like "doublin' your sugar" by adding malt to a sugar wash. That's actually been irritating me for a while. With a plate in the bottom of that cap it would probably do something. Not a terrible idea.

so does 'bama's extention of "empowering the middle class" extend to moonshiners? or is it still all about supporting the big business beverage monopolies and sin taxing the hardworking people?

tonite maybe we turn the page, the economy creating jobs, creating new industry that the people can participate in.

Watched the SOTU and then switched to "Justified" at 10 so I missed having the talking heads tell me what I had just heard.

Final season of Justified. Don't miss it.

Cable is screwing people up the stinky.

Here's a bit of gold for y'all from a certified nerd. Let me start of by saying it is legal on the user end (you). Get an android W/ HDMI out, ouya, apple tv, windows pc, linux, Roku box, raspberry pi...ect . I recommend a mk808 which is 35$ for a living room. Then install KODI the predecessor to XBMC. Configuration is easy, but if you have trouble PM me and I'll walk you through each step.

What you get is a TV guide with hundreds of channels, hundreds of addons for the latest TV shows without commercials, the latest movies, weather, music, YouTube without commercials, local news... And more, All FOR FREE!!! The options will overwhelm you.

Fusion installer will configure the thing for you. If you ain't fusion you snoozing.

Boom Boom Boom, Bing Bing Bing I just saved you well over $1,200 a year minimum and your getting a better quality service. Your welcome!

I'll start writing a thread for it. As to not further hijack

My grandparents who are over 80 got it figured out. Its simple once someone shows you how it works. Most people here are spending $1,500 and up for living room entertainment per year. It honestly makes me mad seeing people getting taken advantage of by television providers. Comcast offers VoIP for $20 a month plus tax. Google offers it for free. :eugeek:

Gonna hop on over and check that thread out there, bearriver. Used to do sat cards back in the day.

Truckinbutch : you check out any games on that roku? Got my dad one for Christmas, he said he has trouble watching things now because he can't figure out what! And check out "you don't know jack" in the games. Lotta fun to kill time...played it on my ps years ago, now on xbox and roku.

Edit: wife likes watching Moonshiners for entertainment. She knows it's BS. But i got a stern warning from her to keep my mouth shut and just let her enjoy the damn show.

Moosemilk , I got an active beef farm to care for , grandkids to help through life , and an active commitment to HD that limits my sleep time . Not much available time for playing games .

on the advice of this thread, i have pvr'd and watched my first "moonshiners" tv program.

this reminds me of Tommy Lee Jones in The Fugitive: "Which one of you is the most back-ass, inbred, dumb ass, country mutherfuckers here?"

and everyone's hand goes up.

holy shit. that enough to make me give up hand crafted artisan liquor makin. i'm embarassed. :wtf:

i am, however, looking forward to learning more about bearriver's post. :D

HDNB: you gotta admit, it's some funny as hell entertainment. Entertainment being the key word. It's just a shame so many take it as serious.

Hillbilly blood is another one. Few episodes just came out on Canadian netflix. Great for entertainment.

i think the bootlegger guy bugged me the most.

the whole thing is so far fetched... if you have the resource to
a) deploy a hoe
b) buy a tote and bury it with said hoe
c) cover the whole mess up with new plywood
d) get a couple thousand bucks worth of I beam, truck it in and deploy it with a tracked skidsteer and cut it in half with oxy/acetylene rig.
e)take your new truck and new trailer to pick up a wrecked half ton to put on top of the I beam on top of the plywood on top of the tote in the hole...

the whole mess being so out of place in the woods it screams :wtf:

why not just go buy a distillery? it would be cheaper and easier. I mean what the hell, they already got the still and the customers.

I'll give the hillbilly blood thing a go.

I'm stuck on that....just thinking it sounds so "Austin Powers".

"ok minime, we're going to take out the Vatican...deploy the hoe"! :wtf:

I must be drunk, I just reread what I wrote and choked on my drink when I started laughing.
is it wrong to laugh at your own jokes??
Numerous 57L kegs, some propane, one 220v electric with stilldragon controller. Keggle for all-Grain, two pot still tops for whisky, a 3" reflux with deflag for vodka. Coming up, a 4" perf plate column. Life is short, make whisky and drag race!
