Brew Strong Waterganza

The subject of water for brewing and distilling has always intrigued me.
John Palmer & Colin Kaminski have a great book "Water" on this subject. Before Palmer put pen to paper for this book he had a series of podcasts they called the waterganza on his Brewing Network show with Jamil Zainasheff & John Palmer called Brew Strong. I have downloaded the links to these shows and a few others including, Q&A,water revisited and one about the book with Colin Kaminski as their guest. I hope you guys enjoy these as much as I do, I find it to be a easy and enjoyable way to learn while driving down the road

Listened to part 1 last night while doing my chores. Very informative! Looking forward to listening to the other 5 hours. Will try and get the second one done today while I'm cooking supper.

HD podcasts? What a wonderful idea! That is easy to do. We could record the phone conversations of 3-4 members in good standing in an online voice chat picking a single topic or running through the FAQ's we are all familiar with. I think that would make for a very powerful contribution. Folks could learn while doing chores or driving to work.

We have members who specialize in AG, still construction, sugar heads, pot still operations, reflux operations...ect Each group deserving of their own podcast.

It just takes one or two committed people to get the ball rolling and be the director asking the questions... There are also very good podcast hosting services available these days.

Heck, I could set up a dedicated server myself no problem.

That would be an awesome idea. I can tell you though that putting together voice audio for listening when you've got several different audio sources takes a little work to get balanced. Luckily there is some great software (that's free) that helps, but for me the quality of the audio is pretty important as it can take you out of the conversation if one person is crazy loud or one person is really quiet or distorted. Try listening to the first season of Freakonomics radio on ear buds if you don't know what I mean.


All of that said, I am no expert in any area but is be happy to help get the audio aligned if no one else is wanting to undertake that part. I have no professional background but I have dabbled for work projects.

I didn't consider the importance of that, but am well aware. Tried once getting my voice into a video game mod but couldn't get the quality acceptable enough to use. I even had panty hose spread over a wire frame for a pop filter, and put blankets on the walls.

Finding people with the expertise and basic recording equipment would be an unlikely combination... One would have to buy several kits then ship them from group to group...
