advice on condensor
so i currently am building a electric 5500 watt 15 gal pot keg still with a "brutal plumbed" 7.5 thump keg to a 2"x20" column. I was gonna use my 18"long 3/4" over 1/2" leibig but ive always thought it lacked the knock down power for stripping runs. I would like to build a new condenser with more knock down power. i want a condenser that will work well with larger future column builds. i also want it to be compact. i've been considering a graham or shotgun style condenser. what do you suggest?

Re: advice on condensor
I think that a shotgun condenser from the research that i have been doing is very versatile in space management. However im new to this so still learning.
During U.S. prohibition, Texada Island was a supply point for illegal alcohol into the United States, with a famous illegal distillery operating on the east shore. The remains of the hooch boiler can be seen on the beach.

big power and compact = shotgun, or possibly a tri-walled leibig TP style.

If you have the skills, go for a shotgun. It seems to be the proven design for knock down power. I think with a graham you would need to run it as near vertical as possible to prevent pooling in the coil.

A shot gun is the best like others have said. Mine have always been 450~500mm long with 4x1/2" inner tubes ,2" shell. Generally good for around 15Lph stripping. Just remember, when its full of water it is pretty heavy!.
Here's to alcohol, the cause of, and solution to, all life's problems.

I run a triple wall Liebig with 18-20 inches of cooling surface. It is 1 1/4 over 1 over 3/8. I have knocked down 4500 watts and had room for more.

Wasn't much harder than a standard Liebig.

A leibig/dimroth combo is pretty easy, but a shotgun is forever.
Dimroth is easiest and has the built in advantage of built in turbulence. Shove a dimroth up a leibig (triple wall) and you have immense power.

Re: advice on condensor
from my reading i figured the shotgun was the most effective then i thought triple walled leibig. the graham more or less just looked fun to build. but i guess they are all fun. damn i threw the keg spear into the dump not too long ago. figured id never need it. should have the rest of my parts to finish the build. itchin to get back to it and try out my new 25 gallon SS steam driven mash tun. thanks again for some sound advice. Jedneck, whos the guy in your profile pic?
