Hello,
Another new, soon to be distiller. I have enjoyed reading the forms (well, I did until my eyes started bleeding). I am a novice, but looking forward to getting started.
My goal is to build a boka column on the small keg boiler pictured below. I'd like to have my build complete and be running my first batch of ujssm though it in 2 months time. I think that's a reasonable amount of time .. that doesn't feel rushed does it?
Anyway, I'm looking forward to participating, learning, and maybe even giving back when I have something worth contributing.

Sounds like a plan JustinCase. The link below will take you to what we consider mandatory reading. Feast on those links for a while. Hope to see your post in My First and many other threads over time. Good luck, stay safe, and happy stilling.

Howdy Justin! That'll make a fine start for ya! If you have the coin, ya can prolly sit down today and get all the materials ya need ordered. Then it's just a matter of building everything up, which is an afternoon project. Couple weeks before you assemble get a sacrificial bucket bubblin, it'll be ready when you are.
Patience....the early bird get's the worm, but the second rat get's the cheese.

Welcome. Keg is a great start, what kind of drink are you thinking of making?

Hey All,
Thanks for the welcome. I think today I'm going to see if I can find all the ingredients for ujssm and maybe get that to fermenting, while I get all my parts ordered for the column and coil.
Hawgwrench - Yeah .. I agree I could probably get everything going sooner .. and I hope I will. But I'm trying to resist the urge to make this a sprint rather than a marathon. I'd like to take my time and do it right (as "right" as I can as a newbie with lots to learn). I don't know if my local big box will carry all the stuff I need or not. From what I think I read the 2" copper can be challenging to find?
Bellybuster - I am not too particular about my drink. I enjoy whisky, brandy, bourbon .. the wife prefers flavored neutrals / vodka.
I'm pretty handy, and so I think I'll enjoy a Boka build. I am guessing this is the best place for me to start with learning and understanding the boka:

Anyway, appreciate the welcomes, I'll be sure to post my progress and questions as I start making some actual progress....
