No real way to tell without expensive testing, just have to go by smell taste and good sense.
Every fermentation will create varying amounts, so impossible to give an accurate amount, only the general rule of thumb that we all follow.

Re: Methanol chart
The amount of methane in you still shed is directly proportional the number of beer laden asses standing around watching!

Re: Methanol chart
Ha!!!! Its not the methanol so much as all the higher alcohol's propanol butanol or what have you. If you make any cuts your safe. If you ferment stone fruit you get higher amounts of methanol but again just make good cuts.

Re: Methanol chart
He said heads. But then in brackets he said methane, I kinda guessed he meant methanol and had the terms heads and fores mixed up.

Re: Methanol chart
Ok i read mr carbo's thread sorry i couldnt remember all your name , and I understand a little bit so ill lay it out and c what u all say i only got a teapot that i been running out or yes its small but effective for me its not shotty i made a nice little jobber . Ok i run thru it a mash of 5lbs corn meal , 5 lbs sugar , 2 cups malt , 1 pack yeast and 5-6 gallons of distilled water . Since i aint running much at a time how much would you all discard at the beginning of a run to be safe at drinking it . Its taste great and i been discarding about a shot glass off the top of the run and when it stops burning i start over with new mash . So not much if any tails make it in . Now would that be safe drinking . ?? Thanks alot guys
